Unabhängig und eigenständig gestaltet das Kopenhagener Trio
seit den frühen Neunzigern seine Geschichte, hält die von ihm

Arm an überflüssigen Spielereien und voller Variationsfreude
kommt »We Are Your Numbers« komplex und präzise auf den
Punkt. Klug verschachtelt setzen die drei Instrumente jede Note an ihren
Platz. Blühend markieren Stimme und Melodien Akzente vor knorrigen
Hintergründen. Wieder und wieder schlagen Barra Head Löcher
in allzu eingängige Passagen, zögern Pause, Play, Pause,
Play sekundenlang an Klippen, eh sie sich zuversichtlich und zornig
in die Tiefe stürzen.
Man stelle sich Karate unverblümt und geradeheraus vor, Don Caballero
mit ungebrochener Freude am Lied. Barra Head beherrschen den Moment, das
zarte Seelenheil und die kantige Rhythmusstudie. Wo schon ihr Cover die
Jagd nach Horizonten und der endlosen Weite einer- und präzise Kontrolle
der Formen und Inhalte andererseits verspricht, lösen Jakob Hvitnov,
Arvid Gregersen und Mikkel Jes Hansen auf ihrem zweiten Album all dies
und mehr problemlos ein.

Their choice of means economical, their commitment and impact staggeringly limitless. In this way, Barra Head tenderly pack
stages and media with music. Independently and self-sufficiently, this trio
from Copenhagen has been designing its history since the early nineties.
They pull their own strings and with a firm but gentle touch keep control
over sounds, structures and outbursts. Marvellously illustrating this point,
the Danes' second album »We Are Your Numbers«, is due to hit southern
countries shortly before summer.
Lacking dispensable gimmicks and charged with a zest for variation, »We
Are Your Numbers«, in all its complexity, accurately comes to the
point. Three instruments, cleverly nested, put every tone and note in
its place. In front of the gnarly backdrop, voice and melodies in full
bloom accentuate and intensify. Time and again, Barra Head tear holes
into catchy movements. They pause, play, pause, play, falter for seconds
on top of the cliff, before confidently and furiously throwing themselves
into the deep.
Imagine Karate, upfront and outspoken. Imagine
Don Caballero finding sincere delight in song. Barra Head control the
instant and master both gentle salvation and chiseled rhythmic studies.
Already, the cover of their new record promises the chase for horizons
and the infinite open on the one, exact control over form and content

Die Kopenhagener Arvid Gregersen - Bass, Jakob Aron Hvitnov - Schlagzeug und Mikkel Jes Hansen - Gesang und Gitarre spielen seit den frühen Neunzigern, seit der Zeit in der sie zum ersten Mal ihre Instrumente vor sich hatten, zusammen. Zusammenhalt und Konsequenz, das könnte Barra Heads Motto sein.
Ebenso konsequent tourten Barra Head durch Europa, mehr als 120 Konzerte in 12 verschiedenen Ländern verbunden mit der Aufmerksamkeit für jede gespielte Note, für jedes gesungen Wort sorgen dafür, daß Barra Head zu einem der interessantesten Live-Acts des europäischen Undergrounds geworden sind.
Barra Head teilten die Bühne mit Bands wie: Fugazi, Karate, Billy Mahonie, North Of America, The International Noise Conspiracy, etc. und spielten Festivals in ganz Europa, angefangen mit dem Roskilde Festival 2001. Dort wurde die Band zwei Jahre in Folge vom Publikum zur »best live band at VERA downstage« gewählt.
Am 30.05.2005 erscheint das zweite Barra Head Album namens »We Are Your Numbers« über sinnbuSRecords/Alive in Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz. 10 Tracks, aufgenommen im legendären Black Tornado Studio Kopenhagen, eingespielt mit Barra Headscher Exaktheit und Energie.
Barra Head is a three piece based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Arvid Gregersen; bass, Jakob Aron Hvitnov; drums and Mikkel Jes Hansen; vocals and guitar have played together since they first held an instrument in the beginning of the nineties.
Barra Head is an engaged and energetic live-act, always sincere about every note played and every word sung. Barra Head is known as one of the best live bands on the European underground scene today and has toured Europe several times with more than 120 shows in 12 different countries. Barra Head has played several festivals all over Europe, starting with Roskilde Festival in 2001. The band was voted »best live band at VERA downstage« in the annual VERA poll two years in a row.
Barra Head has shared stages with bands such as Fugazi, Karate, Billy Mahonie, North Of America, The International Noise Conspiracy, etc.
On Monday May 30th 2004 the second album from Barra Head entitled »We Are Your Numbers« will be released through sinnbuSRecords/Alive in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The album contains 10 new and uncompromising rock songs served with the energetic and skillful playing that the band has been known to deliver. The album was recorded at the legendary Black Tornado studios in Copenhagen.
